For his fall/winter 2026 showcase during New York Fashion Week, Campillo teamed up with APICCAPS, the Portuguese leather goods and footwear association, to create a stunning range of boots, loafers, and accessories. This collaboration is a perfect blend of Campillo's signature style and the expertise of Mariano Shoes, a renowned footwear manufacturer.
The collection features a classic boot design with a modern twist. Campillo wanted to capture the essence of the Charro, a traditional Mexican horseman, while infusing it with a contemporary, polished look. And he didn't stop there; he took risks with color, creating a unique palette that sets this collection apart.
"The boots are a statement piece," Campillo explained. "They add structure and sophistication to any outfit. I wanted to create something that felt both familiar and fresh, a true reflection of my design philosophy."
But it's not just about the boots. Campillo also worked with Belcinto, a Portuguese leather goods manufacturer, to create a range of bags and belts that complement the footwear perfectly. All materials used in the collection were developed as part of the BioShoes4all project, emphasizing APICCAPS' commitment to innovation and advanced material development.
"The bags and belts add a touch of elegance and practicality to the looks," Campillo added. "They complete the vision I had for this collection, bringing together form and function."
And here's where it gets controversial (or at least thought-provoking): Campillo believes that shoes have the power to transform an entire outfit. "A nice pair of loafers can make a relaxed look feel sophisticated, while a bold boot can change the vibe entirely," he said. "It's all about choosing footwear that elevates the concept of the collection."
To showcase this idea, Campillo styled his looks with a range of Nike Total 90 sneakers. These soccer-inspired shoes are a nod to Campillo's lifelong passion for blending sport and fashion. "As a kid, I loved the look of those Total 90s. Now, I wear them because they're beautiful, a reminder of my past and a symbol of my journey."
