The evidence, described as "damning" and "incontrovertible," included a drafted resignation speech and a media strategy for a dramatic departure. Party chairman Kevin Hollinrake added, "Some people want the top job. And Rob can't have it."
Jenrick, however, has not publicly confirmed his plans, but Reform UK leader Nigel Farage acknowledged conversations had taken place. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer questioned the timing of Badenoch's decision, adding fuel to the fire as Labour seeks to exploit the Tory party's disarray.
