Attention Los Angeles residents! We have an important update regarding the ongoing storm and its impact on our city's power supply. As of 11 AM on December 24, 2025, the LADWP's power system is operating smoothly, with dedicated field crews working tirelessly to restore power to affected areas.
Safety is our utmost priority, and we want to emphasize the importance of staying away from any downed or dangling power lines. These wires can be extremely dangerous, carrying high-voltage electricity. Please, for your own safety and that of our crews, do not approach or touch these lines, and immediately call 9-1-1 if you spot any.
Currently, approximately 10,700 LADWP customers, out of our 1.5 million electric customers, are experiencing neighborhood power outages due to the atmospheric river event. The heavy rainfall and fallen debris, such as palm fronds, have caused these outages by coming into contact with power lines and equipment.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the San Fernando Valley and northern Los Angeles, with an elevated flood advisory for the rest of the city until 4 PM today.
If you find yourself in a power outage situation, here's what you should do:
- Report the outage online at LADWP.com/Outages or by calling 1-800-DIAL-DWP.
- Keep one light switched on so you know when power is restored.
- Stay calm and assess your surroundings for any potential hazards.
- Use flashlights as a light source, never candles.
Our City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department has also provided some valuable safety tips for wet weather conditions.
