A Parliamentary panel is set to summon airline executives and aviation regulators to address the widespread flight cancellations by IndiGo, which have stranded thousands of travelers across India's airports. The panel, chaired by JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha, will seek explanations from airline executives and officials regarding the disruptions and potential solutions. The panel has taken note of the severe difficulties faced by passengers, including parliamentarians themselves, who encountered flight cancellations and delays. The situation has also sparked concerns over soaring air fares, with several MPs receiving complaints from affected travelers. CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Brittas has called for a joint parliamentary committee or judicial inquiry into the large-scale flight disruptions. IndiGo's mass cancellations, which affected over 220 flights at Delhi and Mumbai airports, have prompted regulatory action, with the DGCA sending notices to IndiGo's CEO and COO, demanding explanations. The airline has responded by forming a Crisis Management Group to monitor the situation and ensure customer care and refunds. This crisis has raised questions about the aviation industry's resilience and the need for robust regulatory oversight.
