TSN's waterfront FIFA World Cup studio and viewing zone in Vancouver was a stunning success, attracting tens of thousands of people to Jack Poole Plaza. The temporary broadcast facility, designed by BC Event Management (BCEM), offered a unique viewing experience with a postcard-perfect backdrop of Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, and the North Shore mountains. Despite its short-term use, the project faced technical challenges, including background noise from float planes, which required the use of handheld microphones. The success of the TSN/CTV pavilion also served as indirect marketing for the Vancouver Convention Centre and Jack Poole Plaza, boosting demand for convention centre services. The plaza, named after the late Jack Poole, who led Vancouver's bid committee for the 2010 Olympics, has become a popular public gathering space, with potential for future large-scale events. The project showcased BCEM's expertise in temporary construction projects and event management, contributing to a long list of major temporary event builds over four decades.
